The Many Faces of Holton!

Christmas Concerts!

The girls had their Christmas concerts this week. They split the school into two groups to accomodate the whole school and the families. Mateya was in the first group who performed on Wednesday night. Mateya's class sang "Ande la Marimorena"( I'm not sure of the translation-Mateya said ande means 'come' and marimorena means 'dark haired person'). She did great! The whole concert was wonderful and well put together. They even included songs about Jesus which is not common in public schools anymore.Jaidyn had her concert on Thursday night. All the afternoon kindergarten kids sang last. They sang two songs. One was a spanish song and the other was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer for which Jaidyn sang a solo. She sang the beginning 'You know Dasher and Dancer... etc' and then the rest of the class joined in. She sounded beautiful and did such a great job. We are really proud of her for being brave enough to sing in front of about 500 people. I know I could never do it!!

Baking Day!

On Friday, my best friend, Jacinda came over so we could do our annual Christmas baking. Six hours later (with the help of Mateya, Jaidyn and Holton) we had cranberry raisin bars, almond squares, carmel squares and about 4 dozen of each of oreo cookies, sugar cookies and ginger snap cookies. We were exhausted but excited to have so many yummy treats to share and of course to eat. Jacinda and I had a great time visiting and laughing together. We don't see each other enough so this time together is always special! Thanks for all the fun Jacinda!!

Trimming the Tree!

Last Sunday after church we decorated our Christmas Tree. We always look forward to this special time together as a family and the excitement and anticipation it brings. This year is very special as it is the first Christmas with all 5 of us together because the girls were in Disney World last year. I LOVE Christmas and look forward to the wonderful memories we will build together this year!

Happy Halloween!

Last night was a great night for Trick or Treating. The weather was perfect, not too cold and because of the change of day light savings, it was not dark until almost 7pm. Sherilyn, Jay, Mckenna and my mom came over to go trick or treating with us. Mateya dressed up as a Vampire, Jaidyn was a Spanish Flamenco dancer and Holton a lion. Cyril and Jay handed out candy while the rest of us went out. Holton and Mckenna were unsure of the whole thing at first but quickly caught on. Mckenna was even pushing Mateya and Jaidyn aside so everyone could see her. It was so cute to see the little duck and lion as people put candy in their buckets just because! We took them out for about an hour then Cyril took Mateya and Jaidyn out and Sherilyn, Jay, Mom and Mckenna headed home. We had a really fun night and got tons of candy. The girls each got about half a pillowcase. Happy Halloween!!!

Pumpkin Carving!

We carved our pumpkins on Saturday. The girls had fun being able to do most of it on their own. Holton didn't want to touch the slimey pumpkin guts but had fun seeing them all lit up and of course he thought throwing the baby pumpkins was the best part. Crazy little boy! Jaidyn with gooey hands

Happy Birthday Cyril!

Tuesday was Cyril's birthday. The kids and I got him an IPod which he was wanting and my mom babysat (thanks mom!) so we could go for dinner. I surprised him and took him to the Wildfire Grill at Flames Central so we could have a nice dinner and watch the hockey game. He was very surprised. The food was yummy and the game was great...we won 5-1 over the Nashville Predators.
Happy Birthday to my amazing husband and best friend!!
